Illegal Immigation Hits Close to Home

(This post first appeared in April 2006 as part of my web site.)

Many people claim to be concerned about illegal immigration in this country as they academically discuss the issue from the comfort of their fancy home. They feign indignation because of so many illegals.....as they call their local landscaper for lawn maintenance (who probably has a whole crew of illegals working for them). But they don't know SQUAT about the issue. You see, I have to live with it every day. Lets take a look at the "safe house" for illegals next to me.

A nice collection of appliances (is a bathtub really an appliance?) in the yard gives the "safe house" that lived-in look. The trash overflowing into the street so carelessly adds that third world charm. The black oil stains in the street compliment the green lawn oh-so-well. The green car parked across from my driveway makes backing up an adventure every time. Politeness has not worked in asking them not to park there. What the picture doesn't show is that there are usually 6-8 cars parked there.

Their behavior couldn't be more obnoxious. I'm sick and tired of the illegals' friends coming to pick them up at 4:00 a.m. and leaning on the horn instead of getting out of the car to go knock on the door.

ANATOMY OF A "SAFE HOUSE" FOR ILLEGALS:

Here's how they go unnoticed. The home owners (who may or may not be legal immigrants) live on the main and upper floors, giving the appearance of a normal family enjoying a normal life in the USA. Their cars are even registered in the state they live. They rent the basement to a revolving door of illegals who never stay there more than a few months (presumably until they can get their fake paperwork in order). What they do to not make it so obvious that its a "safe house" is to overlap their stays and have both singles and couples living there.

For example, couple D will move in two months before couple C move out so it appears that the same number of people are there. Likewise with man B moving in the same weekend that man A moves out. These basement-dwellers always have out-of-state license plates and never register their cars where they live. At times there have been 4 different couples living in the basement at the same time. Oh, and did I mention they procreate like rabbits? They seem pregnant year-round. They stay at the "safe house" just long enough to take advantage of this country's Medicaid system (your tax dollars) while having their kids. At any given time there are different kids playing in the yard whom I've never seen before.

Eventually, these criminals send their kids to public school without, of course, paying any school taxes. What's worse is that in my state, these tax-evaders get an equal vote with me (an actual property owner) when referendums come up to raise school taxes (property tax). Am I ticked off? You bet.

This is the stuff of which true Americans are getting tired, and I'm one of them. This is not just my issue, this is America's issue. I can't stand it when liberals romanticize the issue by calling these scumbags "undocumented citizens," or my favorite, "migrant workers." These people are criminals the moment they step over the border, and ought to be treated as such. They are an insult to all the law-abiding immigrants who come here legally.

This issue is America's shame. When is this country going to get serious about border security? Not when presidents and congress worry more about getting the minority vote than doing the right thing. It will probably take another 9/11 from a weapon smuggled through the Mexican border for the government to do anything about it.

On the positive side, from time to time I detect a groundswell of discontent in this country concerning the issue, as evidenced by the Minuteman Project. Political parties in the U.S. would do well to take notice, because someday things are going to boil over. And it might just be in my neighborhood.

A Great Role Model for Children...Socialism, Racism, and Substance Abuse

So let's review. Its bad enough that your president is teaching children that if you work hard and succeed, your money will be taken from you and given to those who prefer to live off the teat of this great country.

Then you add in the Henry Louis Gates incident where the racism and ghetto mentality of blaming the cop first is taught by the savior. But wait, there's more! Lets teach children that the way to solve your problems is to drink alcohol by having a beer at the White House. I can't wait to see what other life lessons this wonderful role model can teach us.

Ordinary but Interesting

After seeing so many interesting things in my daily travels, I decided to start post them with comments. If you are observant enough, even the simplest things can be interesting. Case in point: Shortly after Michael Jackson's death, I see this in a car's rear window.

After wondering why this person was showing support for a child molester, I thought about a great Michael Jackson joke. Did you hear that since he was made of so much plastic, that they're going to melt him down into Legos and let kids play with him for a change?

Then I got to wondering what all those idiots at the Staples Center in Los Angeles were thinking. I don't get it. Lets honor a perverted freak? No thanks.

The Palin/ Reagan Comparison

On Sept. 8, 2008, I raised the question of the Palin/Reagan comparison on a message board that I frequent. I'm confident that I was the first on the internet to do so. Since my post, there have been articles written on the internet that mention her and Reagan in the same article, although I don't believe anyone has compared them directly. As the Delaware motto says, its good being first. Its not often that I get to be the first at anything. So let's move on and compare them.

They both created quite the stir when they took front and center on the political stage. The enthusiasm within the Republican party borders on hysteria, something not seen since.....Ronald Reagan. Bush 41 didn't get people pumped up. Bush 43 and the neocons have done nothing but anger true conservatives, even to the point of driving conservatives like me to other parties (Constitution Party anyone?), so you can see that its been a very long time since there was this much excitement among the Rs.

Although I've not heard her speak on illegal immigration, it appears that she is a staunch conservative on most issues. Since Reagan was the last true conservative that the Rs had, she reminds people of a better time when the Rs actually had their act together. Hopefully she doesn't push for amnesty like Reagan did.

Her speaking style and attitude suggests a confident, no nonsense approach where she will stick to her principles instead of caving in in the name of "compromise." Both Bush presidents definitely did not have such an attitude. Bush 43 and his "lets work together with the Dems" attitude has been the antithesis of Reagan.

Reagan followed an unpopular Carter. Palin follows an unpopular GW. While she is only running for VP, the similarity is there in that she is carrying the battle flag of conservatism following a liberal president (and yes, I consider neocons to be liberals).

She seems to have a connection to people through bypassing the media, much like Reagan did and the Bushes did not.

As respondents to my message board post noted, it is only by looking back upon history many years from now that the Palin/Reagan argument can be proposed. Time will tell.

Addendum: Nov. 6, 2008

Having fallen short this time, I predict she will be back. With the Clintons not going anywhere, look for a possible Palin/Hillary presidential race in the years ahead. Obama is sure to be unpopular by the end of his presidency, so the Reagan analogy may still apply since Reagan lost in '68 and '76. Time will tell.

And as for the criticism of her from the McCain camp, I don't buy it. From other reports, it appears that the McCain campaign is just ticked off that she didn't play ball their way. A political renegade, indeed. Just like that other renegade who was the last true conservative in the white house.

Addendum: Aug. 3, 2009

Funny how the media, and even the weak-minded conservatives who went along with them, were throwing Palin under the bus when she resigned as Alaska's governor. What dopes. I predict that she will be back on the political scene in some manner by 2012.
